A Can of Man
Je suis aware
Perseus, if you've been following this thread, you would have read the part where I said this does not appear to be an act of terrorism and an event where radical Islam seems to have played more of a role of being the symptom rather than the cause.
I don't think they'll find much incriminating evidence in the email. This guy probably knows better than to write sensitive information over email. The fact is, this guy did have ties to a radical Imam. If he did communicate over topics consistent with his work, it means that he possibly had some kind of unofficial working partnership with the radical Imam.
The news titles "Nidal Malik Hasan tried to contact Al Qaeda" are a bit misleading however.
But beyond that point there's too much speculation. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
OH, and as a US Army Major, communicating with a known radical is NOT acceptable. Before you go into talking about subject matters, any subject matters, in detail, you need to know who that other person is and check that he/she is not a person on a watch list of any kind.
Actually this is sort of what I was worried about. If he had talked about actual cases of his patients, even if it wasn't classified, that information would have been valuable for the enemy.
19K, sorry about your soldier's loss. Hopefully a swift execution of the shrink will help ease some of the pain.
Yeah there's a good chance that he just wanted to die and felt this was one way he could go out while taking a good dump on the Army.
As for the recruitment of suicide bombers, it's actually slightly different from the case of some hopeless suicidal manaic like the shrink. It has more in common with those suicide demonstrators who set fire to themselves in front of buildings of significance (I'll explain this one too in another thread maybe since I'm afraid it'll bring this thread too off topic?).
And as for harrassing of Majors... 19K is right, it's a very difficult proposition done by people who don't believe in ending their military contract with an honorable discharge.
