What War Would You Have Been In?

Agreed. Those of us who are talking about a war we would have liked to participate in aren't saying that war is great, but we are saying that if we had the option of any way that we had to fight, it would be________.
But I have to agree, that those who have seen combat are much less enthused about war than those who are yet to fight.

I suppose I could put it this way. I would have "prefered" to fight in the Second World War alongside my grandfather, because I look up to him greatly and I would have been honoured to serve alongside him.
 
After 25 years of British military training, using fire and manoeuver skills, cam and concealment, booby traps and sniper attacks, I have been outwitted, I have decided to to escalate the war. I am going nuclear.

Like all wars, even the most technologically advanced soldiers will lose out to little guys with sharp teeth.
 
:offtopic: When it comes down to it, Korean Conflict would be my choice, a war in everything but name........ I would be serving beside my grandpa on a ship.

well hmm.. back on topic.. as I said, Napoleonic times. I would like the middle ages too.. maybe Ancian Rome as well. Hmm what else.. ww2? mayybe.. Like the old sailing days too at sea, 17-18th centuries..

and youngCap, Vietnam might be nice to hear, but its quite bloody, I mean talk to the veterans that were there, I dont think they want to return to it..
 
I am VERY aware of that mighty, I talked to my uncle, he said that if there was a call to go back again, he would in a heartbeat.......
 
Bit of a strange question this one.Obviously I wouldnt choose to be in any war and anyone who does is either psycopathic or lying.However if the question is "what war would you be in if you HAD to choose one" then it would have to be one of the more recent conflicts,Iraq,Afghanistan etc... as the risk of harm to myself or family would be least likely in these.
If the question was "what war are you most interested in and would like to see a movie or video game about" then it would have to be WW2, the eastern front,on the German side,as I find this a fascinating theatre to study.The equipment,conditions and sheer scale of the conflict are truly immense and much more awe inspiring than any other military events I have read about.
P.s. Been reading up about your choice Navy Boy,interesting but not going to sway my attention.
