American militia

Me and my neighbor are founding a 3-man militia called the "Pawling Lake Militia." I'll post some pictures of us looking ridiculous in Woodland camo in a field of snow when I pick up my rifles.

I wonder if they're as high speed as they wish to appear. Probably a few OIF/OEF vets in there though, so they'd be in good hands.

Hey, in my opnion more armed American citizens mean less crime and less chance of evil running around unchallanged.

Absolutely, I just wish state and local governments didn't strip urban dwellers of their freedom to carry un-concealed weapons, but I can understand the need to have a permit for concealed.

Well, I can't say with 100% certainty which cities have laws against slinging a rifle over your shoulder and taking a walk around the block, but to me it's as if people are just afraid to do so even if there are no laws, and what ends up happening is that all the criminals are the ones with the guns and the people are up the creek without a paddle.

Around here people go to Wal Mart with their AR15 or whatever they have slung behind them and no one gives a rat's rear. Brings a smile to my face every time. Broad daylight, you can waltz down Main St loaded for bear and the police won't give it another thought, though they might just roll on over to say hi and check for any criminal activity, but nothing drastic, as long as you don't attempt to evade or conceal your weapons. I wish every place in America was like this.

Well, like I said, we're only 3 people, but hey, our "operational area," if you want to call it that, is one private community on a mountain. If anything bad happens, we might be able to help and maybe even save a life. Most likely if we get a chance to do our part it will be putting out a fire or some such, there's very little violence around here.

Waste of time if all they're doing it for is too look warry.

Join an organisation that deals with that stuff then instead of a militia, you'll actually get some training in the matter.

Its a cultural thing mate and some of those militias do a lot of training as many are veterans of varying degrees.

I am looking to get some training, but I'd rather stick around here. I don't want to be sent somewhere else, just help out the neighbors.

A good friend of mine was militia. He trained as the OPFOR for the local PD SWAT when he lived out in Colorado. He group was all former military or gun smiths. They were well respected by the local community and LEOs. But that was when he was going to gun smiothing school and now lives in the Great State of Florida.
