There was a video released by the US showing an incident where Chinese fighters were extremeyl close to a different recon plane

"SEC. RUMSFELD: Well -- save it. (Radio dialogue continues.) Look at the plane's mushy behavior. You can see he's flying at a very slow speed for a fighter aircraft. (Radio dialogue.) Those planes are not designed to fly at 250 knots. (Radio dialogue.) You notice, there's a propeller; you can see how close it was, and you can see the angle of attack on the fighter aircraft. He's trying to fly much slower than he's supposed to be flying, and as a result his nose is kind of -- (inaudible). (Radio dialogue.)"

It took me a while to find anything on that video.

China never provoked any communis political revolt in neighbouring countries. Even if u said North Korea, China's purpose is to prevent US from spying the China land if they won the Korean war and establish Information centre in North Korea. Vietnam war was provoked by Soviet Union.
I always thought it was because China feared that the west could use North Korea to attack CHina, not because of spying...

no one can stop china and chinese forward, though now china get some problems, but western countries 100 or 200 years ago had the same problems too, for instance democracy, worker problem, innovation problem and military problem.i think china and chinese will overcome it ,but be patient.

Nobody's stopping China... that is unless China starts an invasion it'll have to be stopped.

Even Taiwan have spies in China mainland.

And I wonder how USA did to those Chinese spies.

My point is,China cuaght all the planes members (25 of them rite?) but they treat them well and send them back home without USA coming and negotiate and blablablablablabla.................isn't this showing enuff that China r peaceful country?

You're forgetting how our servicemen ended up in Chinese custody in the first place. Their treatment never would have been an issue if it were not for the overly aggressive actions of a Chinese pilot.

"the general rules of international law which find particular expression in Articles 25 and 37 of the Chicago Convention of 1944, States are required to render assistance to aircraft in distress in their territory and to permit, subject to control by their own authorities, the owners of the aircraft or authorities of the States in which the aircraft is registered to provide such measures of assistance as may be necessitated by the circumstances."

I believe the American aircraft issued a distress call over international waters. According to the Chicago Convention, the seisure of the plane was illegal. Those are not the actions of a peaceful nation.

In American words "Very Sorry" is not "Apology"?

On April 11, Minister Tang Jiaxuan received a letter from the US Government saying "very sorry" for the US military surveillance plane ramming into and destroying a Chinese military plane, handed by the representative plenipotentiary of the US Government and US Ambassador Pruecher.

On April 12, the Chinese Government decided to allow the 24 crewmembers of the US plane to leave China.

On June 2, China and US held negotiations on the technical arrangements of the disassembling and transportation of the US EP-3 military surveillance plane and reached an agreement.

On the evening of July 4, the disassembling and transportation working of the US EP-3 military surveillance plane fully was finished.

Doody, I think that applies if the aircraft is not hostile. I'm not sure if spying is considered hostile, but I really don't think it's all to friendly either.
