Individual weapons in service with the PLA infantry troops include assault rifles, squad machine guns, grenade launchers, light anti-tank weapons (LAWs), and pistols.

Each PLA Infantry Squad comprises 9~12 persons (one Squad Leader, one Assistant Squad Leader, and 7~10 soldiers) organised into three teams. Their weapons include 8~11 assault rifles, one squad machine gun, and two LAW launchers.

Currently the PLA is mainly equipped with the second generation 7.62 mm Type 81 assault rifles and squad machine guns, together with a small number of first generation 7.62 mm Type 56 (AK-47) submachine guns and Type 56 squad machine guns. These weapons will be replaced gradually by the third generation 5.8 mm Type 95 assault rifle and squad machine gun.

Chinese PLA has different kinds of troops units, Class A Troops are equiped with best weapons available in PLA, Class B Troops much less better.

Sherman is right they are guarding the Chinese boss in Iraq.

They does not belong to Chinese PLA, but are the Armed Police men.

Chinese Armed Police is different than the normal police men, they are more like the National Guards or Republic Guards, for internal affairs, they count about 1 million men I think, heavily armed police troops.
