WHO WAS THIS?

Antoine Lavoisier.

Hahaha. I would totally feel smart, but my roommate is the one that came up with it. :(

Exactly - that is what the judge told him before sentencing him to the guillotine.
Your turn, Sevens. Great.

I'll pass my turn onto one of you gentlemen. I've thought all day and just can't think of anything good!! LOL :)

How about your room-mate ?:)

Let's throw it open for anyone to have ago with a question. We can come back to it later if necessary.

OK, edit here. We can carry on.

"Mr Pierrepoint, I have always wanted to meet you. But not, of course, under these circumstances".

Who was this?

Nice one, Mr KK. He was upper-class, the son of one of Churchill's ministers, the brother of Julian Amery, who also was a prominent politician, and a great traitor, broadcasting propaganda for the Nazis, just like Lord Haw-Haw. He also volunteered to raise a unit German fighting force from amongst British POW's ; he tried, it never happened. He was very anti-semitic.

Eventually he was sentenced to hang, and that was how he greeted executioner Albert Pierrepoint, who said, as it happens, that when it came to noose, Amery was the bravest victim he ever came across.
Ironically,he was also of Jewish descent.

Over to you.

Cheers, try this one

I heard great lamentation, a hermit weeping there bewailing to his God the grief he felt: ‘Oh no, the Pope is just a child. Lord, help your Christendom.’

Wow. Sounds almost biblical, but later. I'm into the picture it conjures up - a voice in the wilderness. But can I recognise it?

Well done Justin - hope you are right. Wait for Mr KK. If you are correct its over to you for the next one. Cheers.

what's this one? Who was he? Really got me. I've gone throuhg all the warriors i could think of, including religious ones.
Well done Sevens. Nice one Justin.

Not sure who he was exactly. I just know he's the one who said it. Thanks again to my ever so smart roommate. :)

Okay here you go. Its terribly easy, but one of my most favorite quotes. :)

"The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other b****** die for his."
