Security team repels Pirates

Hard to find specifics. Article mentions the EU, NATO, Malasia & China also patrolling.

They may all be patrolling with the same broad focus, but it would be easy to try and throw some economic implications into the mix to benefit your country, like I said, hardware hardware hardware, it matters in situations like these, first you have to look at the Naval capabilities of each country sending forces to that region, look at their economic status, and their import export ratio, and lastly out of the Naval assests that country has, what kind of ships or aircraft are they sending, and for how long? Put those basic facts together and you can gauge the impact on each country that is involved in the hunt for pirates at sea.

Any pirate "boat" (if you want to call those pos things that) would be stupid if they go up against ANY countries Naval forces, A WW2 German coastal gunboat could out perform a Pirate boat, and send them either to the bottom or running away before they went to the bottom.

And for aircraft :) Lets see how they fair against even a Gloucester Gladiator.

Second warning for halfassed pirates:

A 5inch 54 HE round amidships is gonna screw up your weekend plans.....go back to herding goats or catching halibut or chewing khat or whatever your worthless ass does.

Third warning..

There is a ship named eth Jewel of Virginia, DO NOT attack this ship, the crew members are all grumpy old men who couldn't care less weather or not your alive or dead, and they WILL return fire :)

As of late I have been thinking about joining one of these security teams. Anybody have any advice on the pay per route?

The Spanish 4 men security teams earn 7000 $ per month p. p., average, full social security, but no pension rights.

The Spanish fishermen on the trawlers earn about 4500 $ per month p. p., average, with full social security and pension rights.

The African (Senegal, Kenya) guys that work on the trawlers get about 150 $ monthly (!), p.p., no social security nor pension rights.

When the ALCRANA was released 10 days ago for 4 million everybody was surprised to find out later that the 20 African members of the 36 crew had negotiated taking a little part of the ransom money and had beforehand tipped on the location of the ship to the Somalis.

To paraphrase the saying about people and polititians: "Every company gets the pirate they deserve..." :)

Sorry, but I find it hard to feel compassion for a company that pays their African Slaves 150$ a month for a 16/7 hours composition.

Hey Rattler is that 7000 US Per month?
per month per person (5000 Euros here in Spain, you need a solid mil background and then to pass a (short, 3-5 days if my information is correct) weapons training and psychology test with the Spanish Marines as State had to tweak the law to allow private secruity firms manage cal .50 MGs).

Do I have to speak Spanish?
I can pass everything else, and I still can break a .50 cal down and walk off with it :)
the Psychology test would be the only hard thing

Re: Spanish, I have no idea really about the required standards (I am sure a short inquiry with the Security Firms involved will get you up to speed: They are Santa Barbara Systems (SBS), a subsidiary of U.S. group General Dynamics and Segur Ibérica), but I have a hunch it would be a prerequisite as it is treating with Spanish crew and coordinate with Spanish Navy and Military... ?

"The requirements that have to be passed are: Competence as security guards (TIP), license for private security weapons (type C) and military experience, explain participants in the process. Selection also values the experience in a war zone and at sea.
The psycho test is supposed to flush out the nut jobs that might do more harm than good, mainly for insurance reasons.

A start to get the gist would be this article: http://www.cincodias.com/articulo/e...d-atuneros-Indico/20091123cdscdiemp_9/cdsemp/ Pass it (as URL) through google translator http://translate.google.com/?hl=en&sl=es&tl=en# and you get the idea.

Thanks Rattler, I gotta check into it, the Spanish part will be hard fro me but if I could squeak by the psych, I did time on carriers, so to me a ships a ship, the only part of the psych test i might fail is I have this uncontrollable tendency to try my best to kill whoever is shooting at me without regard to their safety, no mater what, and I don't stop until I achieve my mental goal:)

Spanish sec teams also repelled two attacks, just a month ago, shooting to kill with their cal .50s in one short and one extended fire fight (the latter lasting over one hour against 6 skiffs, they got answered with an RPG that took out part of the bridge; no ENY cas stats got public). No attack on trawlers since then.
