Dear Father Sarcasm.

The polite term is NEW REPUBLICANS. I know politeness is a concept you struggle with daily, but at least keep trying. I am sure that deep beneath all your sarcasm, your rude, and snide comments, (which you exhibit to anybody who disagrees with you) there is a nice person trying to get out.

Perhaps it would help for you to return to the Vatican and relearn the parts of the Bible where Jesus said to LOVE your neighbor, apparently you missed that part.

But back to your question.

30 years ago the great institution known as the GOP was subverted by Imperialists, Religious Zealots, Massive Global Corporations and a few other self-serving fanatics who hide their personal agendas by wrapping it around the flag. I must admit that this was a very effective technique as most of the masses were too uneducated or indifferent to notice the principals of the GOP and of this great nation of ours being stolen by snake-oil salesmen.

Thankfully, the utter incompetence, negligence, dishonesty, and nastiness of some the current batch of people that call themselves 'Republican'
finally awoke people, long since silent people within the party, and the nation at large. Their wrath was felt last November 2006 and it most probably will be felt in again 2008.

This is why we call several of the GOP Presidential candidates are 'NEW' Republicans to differentiate them from the soon-to-be-extinct OLD ones.

So what do new 'NEW' Republicans believe in? The same thine the original GOP party did of old. A Moderate party platform.

Small Government, Balanced budgets, paying off debts, Strong Defense, (but not military adventuring), a strong dollar, a strong economy (not just Corporate America), low unemployment, low taxes (for all, not just the rich), a respect for all American citizens and citizens of the world, a respect for American and international law, and the US Constitution.

Many of these concepts have been long forgotten.
 
Sometimes love involves a swift kick to the posterior or a cold slap of reality. Its what parents do and it IS love. Withholding that is not love it is neglect at best and hate at the far end of the spectrum. All this new age touchy feely crap needs to stop before our entire civilisation goes the way of the bloody DoDo.

Iranian Parliament Ready for Talks with Nancy Pelosi

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Vice Chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission here on Friday voiced preparedness to attend talks with the US House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi.

Speaking to FNA, Mohammad Nabi Roudaki said, "We are ready to attend parliamentary talks with the speaker of the US Congress, Nancy Pelosi."

Meantime, he reminded that such preparedness should not be interpreted as restoration of political ties with the US, "because the US administration is a bullying and occupying government which ignores the rights of nations and violates the international and diplomatic rules and regulations."

The MP said that parliamentary talks could focus on the existing problems and issues between the two sides and bring Iranian, European and American nations closer to each other.

He said that Iran's nuclear issue could also be discussed at such a meeting.

OK folks, I think it's time to return to the topic at hand and leave the personal comments out of the debate.

I think that it's great that Pelosi is showing some diplomacy. I think it's better to ask questions about what these countries are doing and to attempt to be polite then to just be the big bully, demand things, and say that if the country doesn't do them then we'll bomb them back into the stone age.

We should try to be the friendly, helping, and talk to the other side, like we did with the Soviets. We didn't just demand things and threaten to blow them up if they didn't do them. We were a much nicer bully that found someone who could fight back and therefore got nice and diplomatic. And it worked.

It's better to be the diplomat than the bully who invades every time the other guys do somehting they don't like.

Didn't threaten to blow them up??? Um do you know what the cold war was about....

If the Soviet economy didn't collapse we would probably still be in a cold war...Some of these countries leaders could really give a rats ass what we say...

Bottom line Pelosi shouldn't be wasting my tax dollars running around trying to play something she isn't, she should be sitting in the US doing her job...
