Republican definition: 2 sides meeting in the middle/compromising to get things done.
Democrat definition: Republicans helping Democrats pass the Democrat Agenda.
Actually you seem to be saying "polarization" & , maybe, "gridlock". Polarization. Dems are way Left. Rank & File might not be, but the Leadership is. Look @ Lieberman, a Liberal in the JFK mode. He's gone from being the VP nonination to being run out of the Party because he wasn't a rabid anti-war guy. While the Dems accuse Reps of being far Right, the Leadership is Moderate, to the dismay of many Rank n File core supporters. TEA Party ( polls show 60% Rep & 40% Dems & Libertarians) is made up of people disgusted with big spending/big Govt types like Bush & Obama.

I know this is off topic, but you can't be serious about this. Look at the voting the Republicans do. They oppose everything, vote against everything with a near 100% score. They know the word "compromise", but they don't know the value of it!

What I cannot believe is that people like him can be so bold as to make such statements like "Considering the proposals..." after 8 years of one of the worst US Administrations. I wish you were with us back then George because it would have been a scream to listen to you try and defend some of the worst decisions made in American History.
Obama isn't wonderful, in fact I thinks hes only average, but he's infinitely better than the disastrous Government he replaced. But some people have chosen to create a mental block from anything before Jan 20, 2009 wen the fact remains that all of our problems are directly due the policies of the previous administration.

If you think my calling Bush & the Reps who ran Congress the 1st 6 years "Big Govt Republicans" is praise, you're barking up the wrong tree. I was/am applaed @ his spending. Used to say he sent like a Democrat untill the current bunch showed me how Democrats really spend! I'm sure all you Lefties love Obama's proposals, but for the good of the Country he needs to be stopped. Gridlock is better than "progress" of his plans. We need people up there who don't believe that the Federal Govt is there to take care of everybody & thier every need. Chains we can believe in.

George, you might as well just declare yourself God if you believe yourself to be anywhere remotely close to correct on your definitions of bipartisanship. ESPECIALLY the Republican "version." I know that the hardcore Democrats aren't exactly reaching out to the right, but you cannot say a damned thing differently about the Republicans. Both parties will never give the other any credence, and that's the whole problem with a two party system in the first place. They are so concerned about being 100% in power that even if the opposing party DID come up with a decent plan, they would reject is simply because it came FROM the other guys.
