US fighters and Soviet fighters

I am 110% sure that I read somewhere that US and Soviets fighter aircraft were engaged in dogfights with each other before VE day. For the life of me I cannot remember where.

Does anyone have any information on this?

I do know that Soviet Troops and British troops clashed in Berlin after VE day, I got it from a chap who was there. The next morning the troops were gathered and warned that the previous days incident didn't happen and that everyone talking about it will be subject to court martial.

I also heard that there were clashes of British troops and Soviets in Denmark before the war ended.
 
P-38’s and Yak-9’s engaged in 1944 over the Balkans.

I was sure this incident was in Martin Caidins book FORK TAILED DEVIL: The P-38 - but now I can’t find it so I may be not. But the encounter did occur - the P-38’s were attacking a Russian column and the Yak’s were protecting there own. The final count is in dispute but both sides quickly realized that they were involved in a case of “friendly fire”.

Never happened.
The only part of Denmark which was "liberated" by the Soviet Union was the Danish island of Bornholm, situated in the Baltic Sea about 84 mi from the rest of Denmark.

There were about 25,000 East troops, primarily from Russia and Georgia stationed in Denmark. Some of them came in open combat with German units after the Germans had capitulated. There was one episode where a Russian batalion killed their German officers and fled into the surrounding forests. The local resistance leader had no desire to try and fight them but got unexpected help from a German panzer battalion whose commander volunteered to fight the Russians if the resistance allowed them access to their heavy weapons. This was accepted and the Germans defeated the Russians in under an hour.
 
As far as I can remember, British troops raced to get to Denmark before the Soviets. I heard there was a clash between British troops and drunken Soviets, from what I can remember the Soviets wanted access to a group of women and the British troops wouldn't let them. Again if I remember correctly it turned into a fire fight, the Soviets losing.

I know that the Soviet Union held on to aircrew from the RAF and USAAF who landed in their territory for longer than neccessary and they also were supposed to have not repatriated Allied POWs in camps they "libearated".

My understanding was that the British drove across the Schleswig-Holstein peninsula to prevent the Russians from getting up into Denmark and British and Russian forces met at Wismar.

According to my mate who was in Berlin, who reckoned there was no love lost between British and Soviets. After the Soviets opened fire on a British convoy in Berlin after VE day, which killed quite a few British troops and to which the British retaliated (an incident that was never reported), it wouldn't surprises me if there were other unreported incidents.

There was a clash between the British Forces and the Russian when the Russians arrived at a town on the Baltic coast high on Rocket fuel . The Russian did try to force the British out and some 300 Russian were killed during the incident and it is a part of the unwritten history of my Regiment
