Now I wonder who you think did the most to win the war, or who was the best Commander in the Pacific during WW2. Would say it was General MacArthur or Admiral Halsey.

Wouldn't you rate Chester Nimitz more as a strategic commander, like MacArthur, than Halsey? Halsey was a task force commander, a job he shared with Spruance, at least in the latter part of the war.
 
There's a lot of negative commentary on MacArthur's conduct in the Pacific. Especially what happened on Corrigedor (and his acceptance of the Medal of Honor) as well as his "show-off" attitude.

I think Nimitz was an outstanding naval strategic commander, as was his adversary, Yamamoto, the planner of the Pearl Harbor attack (although he was rather wrong on Midway).
 
of course, people would have still lived in the dark age, if US didn't contribute and sacrifice so much to pacific war. General MacArthur should deserve more respects. USA was the real hero in pacific war. there is no doubt about it.

No doubt the US provided the greatest overall contribution to the pacific theatre, but lets not forget the other contributers such as New Zealand, England and Australia, who each provided a great contribution to their means.... and also can equally be called heroes of the campaign.
 
Halsey in search of self glory was lured away from the landings at Leyte Gulf by Admiral Qzawa, but indecision and poor decisions by Vice-Admiral Kurita and American air superiority avoided a major US defeat.

MacArthur was another glory seeker in WW2, and had severe mental problems by the time of the Korean campaign, blaming everyone else for the problems. He wanted to use the atomic bomb against China, Truemans intervention by dismissing him just in time barely avoided a nuclear wasteland and possible further escalation.

Nimitz is the obvious answer, but he had luck and intelligence on his side at Midway.
