Questions Galore!

I am in the Navy Dep program, hoping to get into the Nuclear field. I feel like my recruiters are giving me the run around. I feel rather childish to feel like they are trying to sabotage me, but I can't shake it off.

I wanted to know is-

1-If I wanted to change into the Air Force, the Army...can I?

2-If I found out they are doing something baised, can I report it? Or can I just report to someone else at another station instead..?

I know that you guys may not know, but I really appreciate any advice given.

And if there is anyone in the nuclear field or about to join, can I get any advice on who to talk to, since my recruiters don't seem to be adept for it.
 
If you don't feel comfortable with this particular recruiter, go somewhere else.

If you haven't signed an enlistment agreement or contract, you can join whatever branch of service you want, providing you meet that service's standards and pass their tests.

Well- I 'll kinda paraphase some instances so I don't ramble more than necessary.

1-When I inquired about taking the test and when I could take it. They seemed hesitant to give me an answer. Understandably I found out, its because the man giving the test has to drive 2 hours to come give it personally. So after 3 weeks of me trying to set a day, phone tag really before something actually happens.

2- I have a day to day job. I need to tell my job in advance when I need to get off early. I call the recruiter a week before, to make sure I need to leave early a certain day for dep meeting. He afirms it. He waits till the day before the dep meeting to tell me, that the meeting isn't this week but the following.

3- When I signed up, they told me to not bring up any of my medical background when I went to become a dep. So they won't have to find my official medical reports. This is before I learned that I can be severly charged for lying. (( I have had surgeries before but nothing that can handicap me now, but I would like a military doctor know my full medical history))

4- They didn't tell me till I arrived to do the screening (( I completely forgot the name of this part )) to go into dep that I needed my transcripts from my college.

5- I talked to them today and they told me I passed the test but failed a waiver. Later in the conversation another recruiter called and I got a feeling like they were discussing what to do with me. ((Since I failed the waiver, I was trying to figure a way to plead my case to go in...))

Anyways, least to say, I believe that they are trying to get me in trouble or they are trying to go the path of least resistance. Which I feel isn't what I want of my recruiter, or anyone's.

There are other little things, that are just stupid little pest peeves, but overall, if I can go around them and talk to some one who knows what they are talking about, I would like to do that.

Well- I'm in dep, I believe I signed an agreement already.

Even with that, could I still change branches if I wanted to? Or did I sell my soul, so to speak? Would other branches deny me if I inquire about their jobs if I am in dep in another branch?

You need to be up front and completely truthful if you expect to get any help on this forum.

What waiver did you fail?

Well when I was in 9th grade I failed Algerbra. So I took it again in 10th grade and passed with a B+. I had to write an explanation to why I failed and that I did learn from it.

I didn't mean to make it seem like I am with holding any information. I dunno, I just feel peeved, because I passed the test and I did eventually pass the math class, but I dunno, I'm not them. So I don't know what else they have to consider on it. I want to join and I want to do this.

No you cannot change now. You signed your contract, you were sure about it then and COMMITTED to it. The only way to change is to not show up to ship and then come back later to sign with someone else. But honestly, if you do that I dont believe you will ever ship to any branch.

Something should feel wrong about that option to you.

If there is a problem, your recruiters probably are trying to figure out what to do with you. But you already signed up, and thus you passed all the prereqs. If you go to ship and they try to change the terms, dont accept them. It is a contract with the US Navy that says you will commit to X service under the terms of Y job. The terms are specific, and if they try to change them, generally the whole deal is off.

You need to sit down with your recruiter and gather every piece of information about what is going on. They can tell you all the nuances about the regs and everything that is going on.
