RAWALPINDI: Pakistan successfully test fired cruise missile ‘Babar’ on Thursday morning.
Pakistan army spokesman Major General Shaukat Sultan has confirmed that Pakistan successfully test fired ground launched cruise missile ‘Babar’.
While talking to Geo TV, Shaukat Sultan said that missile is capable of carrying all kinds of nuclear and conventional warheads with a range of 500km. It could not be detected by radar due to sophisticated system. The launch validated all parameters.
Mr. Shaukat said that Pakistan is the first ever country of the region who carried out cruise missile test and now Pakistan has joined the club of countries producing cruise missile. President Pervaiz Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have congratulated the scientists on successful test.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday test fired its first cruise missile, capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads.
The missile, named Babar, has a range of 500 kilometers (310 miles), and was fired early Thursday.
``By the grace of Allah, all design parameters for the flight were validated,'' Pakistan Army spokesman Maj. Gen Shaukat Sultan said.
The statement said the Babur missile flies parallel to the surface of the ground, can hit its target with ``pinpoint accuracy'' and can be fired from war ships, submarines and fighter
jets.
``The technology enables the missile to avoid radar detection and penetrate undetected through any hostile defensive system,'' it said.
Shaukat Sultan said Pakistan has joined the few countries ``that can design and make cruise missiles.''
President Pervaiz Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have congratulated the team of scientists and engineers associated with the project.
Musharraf praised the scientists and engineers involved in the Babur project for their success, ``and reiterated Pakistan's resolve to continue to meet emerging challenges and geo-strategic developments in its neighborhood.
