Firearms Possession discussion (in response to yet another US shooting)

well then if you are set on going Infantry and being the best you cannot be a {{{ ralph, spit, gag, barf }}} *LEG*. Get your Ranger Tab, Wings, try for SF.......... those tabs will help your career immensely. To belong to such a community will change you in ways you never dreamed.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely give my best if i ever get my chance. But from what people tell me you can still be stuck in a leg unit even with jump wings and a ranger tab. ;P

Yes but it is important that your right to shoot and be shot is upheld otherwise you are not really free, remember the minute the 2nd Amendment goes the country will become a dictatorship and probably invaded by England to get its territories back.

Yes, the Red coats will be marching down from Canada.

Monty, I read you have a lot of guns. When you are in the process to buy another one to your collection, is it a painstaking process to convince your boss (wife) the need for the new item. Or does she say "what ever do what you want," and we all knew what that means, you will pay dearly for it later

There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more, and they began to running,

that is true but the fact that you went through said training puts you in a class of your own...... employers see it as someone able to complete difficult task... lots of non-tangible bennies go with those tabs.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no as she is not opposed to idea and doesn't have a problem with firearms ownership, it just depends on what else is going on at the same time.
While I have a lot of firearms I have accumulated them over the years so I am not purchasing them on a constant basis and most of what I buy are collection items with a few hunting weapons.
The biggest concern we have now is with the kid reaching that "inquisitive" stage we have to be extra careful that the rules are followed but New Zealand law is pretty stringent about storage and we more than meet those requirements.
Long term I expect that I will dispose of most of my collection (probably donate it to either the Army museum or a local one) as I am hunting less and less and I am not sure I see the point in a collection that only myself and the few selected visitors get to see it may as well go somewhere where it will be available for viewing by the public.

Of course, I forgot....

I doubt we'd want the US territories back, more hassle than it's worth.

What would we do with all those crazy American's? ;) :p

Doncha know we all love our Burger Kings and Maccie Ds in the good ole U of K. We'd have to get rid of all those stars and stripes. We'll let you keep the red white and blue, only this time, it'll be the Union Jack.

You'd be surprised just how popular McDonalds and Burger King are on this side of the pond. ;)

Oh I love how being reservist means you don't know about the army. Guess what, I went through the SAME IET as everyone else and trust me from what I've seen from people who went to FLW or Ft Sill, they lack discipline and still are individuals. **** my class marched right by FLW basic when I was in AIT, I could see with my own eyes that their training was sub-standard compared to what I got at the MCoE. The fact that you get Vietnam era gear at FLW amongst other things is just astounding. Then there is the utter chaos that is caused by new EO policies. People friggin act like they're in high school and file complaints for stupid crap, or to get other privates in trouble.

Oh yea, the old generation from the 90s up till around 05, they're tough, they are the old army even in combat support, however I was referring to the newest generation of privates that come out of IET. You don't have to take my word for it, why? Because the old generation of the army, MY NCOs that went through a lot tougher IET, said the same **** about this new politically correct US Army.

In the previous post that I quoted, you stated that training was a joke for all MOS`s except for the infantry. There just isn`t any way you can accurately say that. Whether you are a reservist, or regular Army, you are new to it. You haven`t been anywhere, you haven`t done anything. This isn`t meant to be a put down. In time, you`ll get experience. To truly get the big picture, you need to spend years on active duty. It was my experience that most people were well trained. If they were poor performers, it was because they wished to be. In my unit, they were quickly shown the door. The best thing you can do is be a good soldier and set the example.

When you Red coats are marching in, don't count on the Canadians, they are busy drinking and snowmobiling
