I see the Czech's Gripen got some airtime I always wondered if it was a cost effective purchase for them? The Gripen has a good maintenance rep so that should keep operational cost low.

Does Russia violate air space a lot in this region?

Yes.

During the cold war the Russkies had a daily milk run through the Baltic to check response times.
They still do the occational pass to make sure everyone is on their toes.
