What is the difference between a Gatling gun and a vulcan cannon?

A vulcan cannon is a gatling gun so i presume there is no difference?

Is vulcan cannon a type of weapon or a name of a specific weapon?

Gatling Gun is a discription of a type of gun isn't it? Might have been a specific gun but I dont think it is considered as a specific gun anymore (if it ever ware?) but a discription of the type of weapon by its funtion and built.

The M61 operates on the Gatling principle. 6 20-mm barrels are mounted on a geared rotor that is driven by a 20-hp electric motor.

A Gatling gun is a hand operated seven or eight barreled gun, firing from a top loading magizine. Yes it is still called a Gatling gun but the proper names are Vulcans, GAU's, and Mini-guns. They all fire on the Gatling princple

Gatling is describing the system as said above, Vulcan is the nick name of the 20mm M61 which is in fact a Gatling system. The power source does not matter since there are weapons which do not need an electric engine and are not hand driven as well.

Well, those low tech bombs and self propelled rockets might not be THAT low tech. In a test conducted by the russian army on various russian tanks the RPG-29 shoulder launched AT weapon outperformed (in penetration) every other russian antitank weapon, including the 125mm smoothbore gun firing the latest APFSDS round!

The Leopard 2 A6 incorporates mine protection to help protect against roadside attacks - is there any equivalent or one being planned for the M1?

The M1 is able to have a mine plow attached to the front end, but mines aren't the problem. It's 155mm mortar rounds wired together burried a meter under the sand that is hurting them.
