1943 Soviet peace offers...

I was surprised to learn the Russians had offered a peace deal after the fall of Stalingrad in 1943 through both Sweden and Turkey.

I thought so, some of it I found surprising which makes me want to look into it more as the fact that it isn't well known makes me question it.

I did have a quick look and found this which sort of debunks the claim...

Probably, but then a letter saying "I just wiped out a whole Army, you want to stop & go back to the border when this started & call it a day" would be a cheap way of getting territory back. Of course not likely to happen.

True but then from a German point of view would the Russians have honoured a treaty given the genocidal nature of the Eastern front.

Also, there was nothing in the West the Germans could have achieved, even had they started a new "Battle of Britain, by 1943 there were ever growing numbers of US troops in the UK and the Royal Navy was still more than capable of kicking the crap out of the Kriegsmarine.
