UK Army has to step in for Olympics

You may have heard about the failure of the private security firm G4S to deliver enough trained employees in time for the Olympics, so the Government had to bring the army in to help out.

Well now the organisers are coming under fire for not filling up all the seats allocated for Olympic officials, and corporate hospitality, despite the difficulty the public had getting tickets. Guess who they have draughted in to help out?

Well at least they drafted in a bunch that deserve a break and didn't leave them empty.
These **** ups happen at every event world wide, I think the best option is to stop looking for problems and just enjoy the games while they are there.
 
Problem is that many British people applied twice to LOCOG for tickets, then have spent hundreds of hours messing around on the LOCOG site for the scraps to no avail. I eventually got my ticket from France with a hefty surcharge for postage. Lord Coe is trying to brush it of saying there is no problem, but these empty seats are for the big wigs at the front.

Another issue are the traffic lanes allocated for officials which are clogging up London. These are being dubbed as Zil lanes.

The special Games Lanes for Olympic athletes and officials, which have given rise to jams and infuriated some drivers in London, have been branded "Zil lanes". The nickname comes from the infamous traffic lanes in Moscow reserved for the most senior officials of the Soviet Union travelling in their black Zil limousines.

About the only time the buses run on time in London is during the the schools summer holidays, so that the Olympic Traffic Lanes have not made things that much worse as the school holidays have compensated for this. The first day of operation of these lanes the cameras crews were out looking for a story on these and found very little troubles with them. Also these lanes were demanded by the Olympic committee if London got the games.

The Problem with those empty seats are that the Olympic officials demand so many are allocated to each country and you do not get any feed back if they are going to attend these events or not. The only was around this is if they are not there by the start then the seats are giving away to those waiting out side.
 
Well if you dont complain, you don't get!

More Olympic tickets will go on sale after the row over empty seats, organisers Locog have said.

It said an initial 3,000 tickets - including 600 gymnastics tickets - were "put back into the pot" and sold on the London 2012 website on Sunday night.
More tickets returned by sports federations would be released the night before events, Locog added.
