TWENTY WEEKS AND COUNTING

George W. Bush was president for eight years, some say eight long years ... so if you believe they were long years, and you're one of those who believe he got dumber and dumber the longer he remained in office, how do you feel about the following?

Had George W. Bush made a clumsy joke at the expense of the Special Olympics (viz., helping the intellectually handicapped), would you have dismissed it as a non-issue?

If George W. Bush had given an iPod to the Queen of England containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought "how cute!"

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and referred to "the Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as the understandable slip of a Harvard law grad?

If George W. Bush had appointed people to high places whose flawed character impaired them to the extent that they had difficulty remembering to file, much less pay, their income taxes, would you have dismissed this as minor ****-up that will all work out for the betterment of the nation?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had taken a cue from Hugo Chavez and politically dragooned a Republican Congress to allocate 5.6 Billion dollars for the creation of a civilian volunteer security force as strong and well equipped as the regular Army, mandating that this quasi- military force fall under his personal command and control, would you have been concerned?

If George W. Bush had proposed doubling the size of the national debt, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed doubling the n ational debt again over the next 10 years, would you have dismissed it with a "tsk, tsk"?

If George W. Bush pushed the passage of a $785 Billion Stimulus bill and promised transparent tracking to reveal precisely how monies from the bill would be spent, then postponed oversight until 2010, would you approve or would you think something "fishy"?

If Bush had promised 48 hour advance posting of the same bill on the internet but only released it to the public two hours before congressional approval, wouldn’t you wonder and have questioned his ethics?

If Bush's White House Staff had spent over $300,000 flying Air Force One low over New York (for a publicity photo fly-by) scaring the hell out Of the city’s residents, wouldn't you have expected Bush to make the pictures public? Would you have approved? Obama won't give them up, yet he saw fit to release the secret "torture memos".

If George W. Bush had been "addicted" to using a TelePrompter, a nd seldom gave a speech without having one, would you have approved? Would you think he was intelligent?

If George W. Bush had pre-approved/pre-picked the list of reporters allowed to ask questions at his press conferences and refused to call on the correspondent from MSNBC (FOX with Obama), would you have approved? Is that a fair and balanced news conference?

If George W. Bush and a Republican Congress had given hundreds of millions of dollars to a group (the right-wing equivalent of ACORN) after its members had been convicted of voter registration fraud, would you approve of them to doing the 2010 Census, which will determine congressional districts for 10 years? Will you trust ACORN in 2010?

Would you have approved of George W. Bush moving the census from the Department of Commerce into the White House and putting his Chief of Staff in contr ol of the counting?

In the aftermath of 9-11, if you knew George W. Bush prohibited the CIA from water boarding Islamic extremists who possessed information we needed to prevent attacks that could potentially killed millions of Americans, would you have approved?

Oddly enough, Barack Obama has committed all these faux pas in just 17 weeks -- so brace yourself sit back and enjoy, we still have approximately three years and eight months remaining for more surprises. Or probably seven years plus because with the help of the press, we continue to look the other way and don't see where we are headed.!!!!!

Had George W. Bush made a clumsy joke at the expense of the Special Olympics (viz., helping the intellectually handicapped), would you have dismissed it as a non-issue?

My opinion wouldnt have changed. In very poor taste, but yes a non-issue. So yes I would have dismissed it. Just as I dismissed Bush jokes about not find WMD, even though the fact there were no WMD had cost American lives.

If George W. Bush had given an iPod to the Queen of England containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought "how cute!"

Not quite accurate. The IPOD contained photos of the Queens last visit to the USA. But yes also a non-issue.

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you approved?

Yes. Bowing is the same as a handshake in that part of the world. When in Rome do as the Romans do. You cannot expect people to respect our culture in America, if we dont respect theirs when we visit them. Ultimately a non-issue as well.

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and referred to "the Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as the understandable slip of a Harvard law grad?

Yes, if it was made occasionaly. Not a never-ending series of protocol gaffes that lasted 8 years.

If George W. Bush had appointed people to high places whose flawed character impaired them to the extent that they had difficulty remembering to file, much less pay, their income taxes, would you have dismissed this as minor ****-up that will all work out for the betterment of the nation?

If Bush did? Thats not a supposition thats already an established fact. He basically let the energy industry run itself out of the Vice-Presidents Office. Far worse than some creative income tax filing of a single person. Furthermore Obama was genuiunly embarrassed by Geitner, wheras Bush was perfect happy letting his decisions be made in the halliburton boardroom.

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

Again, not accurate. Wagoner wasnt fired. A condition of the bailout was that Wagoner resign as the Government didnt feel confident in his leadership abilities. If this was too repulsive GM didnt have to accept the bailout, did they? Remember GM went to Washington to ask for money, not the other way around. In any loan their are conditions. This happens in large M+A deals all the time, entrenched management is asked to resign by the company being merged. Its hardly anything new and its a perfectly reasonable request.

No idea what this is referring to, can you elaborate?

If George W. Bush had proposed doubling the size of the national debt, would you have approved?

If it was a sound financial plan yes. If it was just to throw money at Banks, hoping it might "trickle Down" (as Bush did) then No. The problem with Bush on economics was that whenever he did something he was almost consistantly wrong. We are on the apex of a total financial meltdown, sometimes desperate events require desperate actions. And its far too early to say if Obama was right or not. Some of you will be eating crow if his plan works. We will know in a year or two.

If George W. Bush had then proposed doubling the national debt again over the next 10 years, would you have dismissed it with a "tsk, tsk"?

Again, this is too general a question it depends on circumstances. If it was a sincere plan to get us out of a financial freefall...perhaps yes.

If George W. Bush pushed the passage of a $785 Billion Stimulus bill and promised transparent tracking to reveal precisely how monies from the bill would be spent, then postponed oversight until 2010, would you approve or would you think something "fishy"?

It depends if this was a one off or if it was a pattern of secrecy. Its far too early to determine if this was a pattern of secrecy or just a single miscalculation or error. All presidents have secrets, its part of the job. The problem with the Bush Administration was that obcessed with secrecy. It wasnt that he had secrets, it was that he had far too many.

If Bush had promised 48 hour advance posting of the same bill on the internet but only released it to the public two hours before congressional approval, wouldn’t you wonder and have questioned his ethics?

Probably yes. But again its a matter of degree. A few years ago I warned people Back when GOP was in charge that any dirty tricks would be recipricated when the Dems took back office. The GOP in congress (Delay, Sesenbrenner) were pros at dirty tricks like this when they controlled Washington. The GOP has no reason to whine know that that its done back to them. Eye for an eye. Perhaps next time they will learn to be more respectful of the minority.

Not exaxtly accurate. Obama was furious about the fly-over, and it was done without his permission. As for the photos the depends of what was on them.

If George W. Bush had been "addicted" to using a TelePrompter, a nd seldom gave a speech without having one, would you have approved? Would you think he was intelligent?

The problem with Bush was WITH or WITHOUT a teleprompter he still sounded like the village idiot. What we want is someone who can speak English precisely and clearly. If someone needs a teleprompter to do it -so be it.

If George W. Bush had pre-approved/pre-picked the list of reporters allowed to ask questions at his press conferences and refused to call on the correspondent from MSNBC (FOX with Obama), would you have approved? Is that a fair and balanced news conference?

George Bush didnt do this? Remember Jeff Gannon? a White House journalist with no actual Journalist creditials at all, but actually a gay male prostitute. And Frankly I dont blame Obama for not taking questions from FOX. There is one thing to take objective criticism from the other side, but FOX is neither fair, nor balanced, nor accurate. He was absolutely right to snub them, FOX is GOP entertainment, not balanced news. I would point out that he does take questions from other conservative Media like the WSJ and WT. And incidentily Bush snubbed journalists (real ones) people like Helen Thomas at White House briefings too when they refused to throw softballs.

Voter registration fraud? I dont think the GOP wants to run with that ball. I could mention the attempts to hack Democrat Telephones systems during the election (of which several people went to jail). Or the attempt to mislead voters by posting erronuous information. Or the voter intimadation at the voting booths, or all those hanging chad ballots not counted in Florida, or...

Would you have approved of George W. Bush moving the census from the Department of Commerce into the White House and putting his Chief of Staff in control of the counting?

About the same as I did when Tom Delay decided to redraw the congressional districts in order to fraudently throw elected (Democrats) out of office. The problem was nobody on the right objected when he did so. So again what gives them the right to whine now?

In the aftermath of 9-11, if you knew George W. Bush prohibited the CIA from water boarding Islamic extremists who possessed information we needed to prevent attacks that could potentially killed millions of Americans, would you have approved?

You certainly entitled to your opinion, but I would remind you that Obama's popularity is at 61%. While Stomach Flu is more popular than the GOP these days. I wonder why that is?

Nobodyis perfect, but that is not the prob:

...all style probs or peanuts compared to the major *principal* stuff (like simply deciding that both national nor intl. laws were not binding for this administration) we had to deal with durig the 8 yrs before, IMHO.

We all commit errors, its a completly different thingy to lie blatantly, invent and twist events, ignore the law(s), s**t on the constitution and all this intentionally so fill your and your friends pockets.

During the campaign Obama was taped calling for a "Civilian Defence Force" equal in power & funding to the current military. His worshipers in the Media let it slide by, but Equal in power? Nukes? MBTs?

2000 Elections. Independant investigations show the "intimidation" was Police making rutiene responses to calls from locations near some of the Polling places On the other hand the current A.G. dropped a won case against the "New Black Panther Party" for intimidation of voters in Philly, most haven't heard much about that.

voting irregularities The Counties in Fla that had problems all had Supervisors of Elections that were Reg. Democrats.

Hanging chads 1 county had a problem with hanging chads. The voting machine manufacturer said that it is virtualy impossible to create a hanging chad on purpose, much less by accident. The only way they can be created is by putting multiple ballots in @ the same time. It was, in fact, evidence of attempted fraud by elections officials, in a County with a Dem. Supervisor of Elections. I knew a guy who bought one of the machines(with unused 2000 ballots included) & he confirmed the impossibility of making a hanging chad by accident.
