Topic: tracking old soldiers

My great grandfather fought in WW2 in the Third Army under Patton. I was wondering if there was any way to find out which part of Third Army he was in and then use that information to track the places Patton would have sent him to fight. Then I could use that info to possibly find other soldiers who had fought in the same areas at the same time or else find books written by them to find out what he went through. He passed away several years ago without telling anyone what it was like to fight in WW2. I just want to find some semblance of what his story might look like.

That website classmates.com has an affiliate for military personnel, you might want to check that out. If you can get ahold of one of his uniforms (prefferably class A's), you can get quite a bit of information from his insignia and ribbons.
