If we assume that the next president will not ignore a terrorist attack on USA or its interests, will want to reduce US presence in Iraq, and will use negotiation to limit nuclear proliferation, here are his five important interrelated challenges:-`


1.The global economy.

2.Inadequate governance around the world.

3.Identity as a source of conflict.

4.The weakening of national boundaries.

5.The decline of US leadership.


Whereas the current national security debate is looking backwards currently.
