WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama hinted Wednesday that the military may see even steeper budget cuts than the $400 billion in reduced spending already outlined by defense leaders, as part of efforts to rein in the federal debt.

The US Navy should consider the loss of one battle group a sort of victory. Unfortunately, I personally feel the Navy will lose two battle groups and the Zumwalt class ((DDG-1000) destroyers. More Ticonderoga class aegis cruisers and some older Burke class (DDG-51) destroyers will be retired or mothballed early. I only hope they mothball them and not cut them up for salvage.

I would prefer defense spending reforms instead of just outright cutting it.
Cost overruns, paper-pushing, bureaucracy is a daily part of life in the Pentagon
