A clear and specific definition of the current terrorist threat to the western world has now been established .

It is not 'Islam,' it is not 'Islamist' it is not 'militant Islam', it is not even 'Islamism'.

The ideology is quite recognisably Jihadism, as established by the Mahdi of Sudan around 1882-6. Osama bin Laden is his political re-incarnation, as living inspiration. These are the creators of the genocidal and disregard of life policies we have seen displayed.

At least we know precisely who we are dealing with.

jihadism isn't the threat, it's not even confined to islam, it's ignorant, uneducated, perversions of faith....purely used to create walking bombs, fill someones pockets or build momentum for a political cause.

That's true, in the context of today's terrorist threat to the west, terrorism cannot be separated from religion.

What shows a lack of understanding about Jihad? They certaunly do NOT mean struggle within oneself in this context.

In this case, the 'threat' is with us , to the safety of us all. This is actual and was created as a modern ideology by the Mahdi, and it presents to the world a very great danger if it is not recognised that we are in fact, involved in a war. All else that you say is correct, but it cannot, in this realm, be disconnected from Islam, although it is not Islam itself, but, as you say, a severe perversion, in search of the power and imperial ambitions of yesteryear.. Believe them, they are at war with us.

I did make the effort to divide this Jihadism from Islam in the wider sense, in my post, although it is specific call to muslims universally.

Of course some of our enemies are simply Arabs who want the foreign invaders (that's us) out. They're not all crazies.

Also, I remember seeing a study showing that 70% of suicide bombers are college graduates. So they know what they're dying for.

Jihadism is a nasty threat. No idea what could be done about it, though.
 
a lot of recruited individuals are uneducated and get a "translation" of the Koran that manipulates them into joining a holy war, when i reality, they join organized crime masquerated as jihad
 
One of the big problems re. this Jihad which is already upon us is the question of home- growns. It seems to carry a great attraction to young Muslim males, and the call to arms is worldwide. It always was but now the inter-net comes into play.

Apparently the most important one in this respect comes out of California to the world. They do mean business, so we have to be on our toes and not be caught sleeping.
