Apart from this I like that MIG-29 and I would definately like to hijack one!
The Current Prototypes of FC-1 use RD-93 ............ and yes this is the same Engine used by Mig-29.......... At this Point and because it's a comparision between the two planes ....... i would Like to Mention a a small thing the Engine that LCA Tejas Currently Uses GE 404 is also used by F/A-18E/F Super Hornet , F-117A , JAS 39 and a few others .

Mig 29 is a Excelent Aircraft .......... Indian Navy's Mig29K and Mig29KUB will also be running on the Same RD-93 engine ..................... Indian Navy will acquire some 20 -22 Of them For the Latest Aircraft Carrier INS Vikramaditya ..........

Recently there was Some News in Jane Defence Weekly and Canava that Russian were Putting pressure on China not export FC-1 with their Engine Onboard.........But Later Kanava reported that Russia has Aggred to Allow them to be given to Pakistan.... All this is freaking unbelievable, we need to varify the news from multiple sources before making it a "news" item.....

There might be Problem with Pakistan Exporting them Further to other countries , with Russian Engines on them.

Peace

The LCA is yet to hit production and still is in the testing phase.

The JF-17s would soon be rolling out, in an year.

Also the comparison in design can be done to an old Russian project that never materialized, Mig-35d.

The JF-17 has demonstrated itself doing all kinds of things like loops during its test flights.

Of course much of this is just producing it in small batches and fullscale serial production will only commence when in 2007. But they're already constructing the place where it would be constructed lol.

Chinese FC-1 faces export hurdle

By Yihong Chang JDW Correspondent
Paris and St Petersburg

Russian engine manufacturer Chernyshev Moscow Machine Building Enterprise has banned China from entering its RD-93-engined FC-1 attack fighter aircraft in any procurement competition where it is up against a Russian aircraft.

The Chengdhu FC-1, Pakistani designation JF-17, is a joint development between Pakistan and China but the issue of the powerplant remains unresolved. Russia has ruled out export of the RD-93, a development of the RD-33, to Pakistan to avoid upsetting India.

A Chernyshev spokesperson said there are explicit terms in the original contract stating that the "RD-93 should not be exported to any third country" without Russian permission and the engine will not be allowed in any competition where a Russian manufacturer is bidding.
Peace

It is just a rumour and nothing else!

China is taking care of this program and JF-17 will get RD-93 engine!

And if not then we have offers from Europeans as well!

Take care, Indians!

first of all you ppl must understand that lca will not be serving IAF as a main line aircraft but it will only serve as in numbers and give india an edge to build other projects like mca ,pak-fa(with russia)which will be at par or even above f-22.these will be the fighters which will serve as the main line fighters to india in the coming years .
Whereas jf-17 will serve as a main line fighter aircraft for pakistan in the coming years. So having a few jf-17 doesnt give india any threats as india’s only concern is just t6o be able to develop better aircrafts and not just lca.
Whereas india has many projects which have been approved by the government such as MCA ,pak fa and many more…pakistan have better plans than jf-17 or j-10,
for which they will have to rely on China, who on the contrary side are not even using jf-17 as their main fighter but su-mkks and other russian fighters.

JF-17 Thunder aircraft is an advanced multi-role light combat aircraft jointly developed by Chengdu and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex under a strategic collaboration project. The aircraft is designed to be cost-effective and can meet the tactical and strategic needs of the Pakistan Air Force, and various other air forces. The first prototype made its first test flight in 2003. The letters "J & F" included as title of the aircraft denoting "Joint Fighter". Pakistan renamed Super-7 as JF-17 (Joint Fighter) Thunder in 2003.
The JF-17 Thunder, whose performance is matched only by F-16s in the Pakistan Air Force's current inventory, would be replacing the aging fleet of Mirage, F-7s and A-5s. The aircraft is being considered as a match for the Indian Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), which is expected to form the backbone of the Indian Air Force in future. There are, however, some features like advanced and futuristic avionics and cost effectiveness that give the JF-17 an edge over the LCA.

That's quite a good comparison SwordFish_13.
TBA_PAKI - I would like to mention that $ 15million a piece of crap won't help your country help secure the future.
Every 4'th generation fighter aircraft including upgraded F-16 today cost upwards of $100 million atleast, so if you think by putting 5 of JF-17 in comparison to one Su-30 Mki or LCA , you would have a number advantage, then you are totally wrong.
Today's 4'th generation figher aircrafts are multirole and can engage simultaneous targerts, not to mention are equipped with BVRAAM ( Beyond Visual Range Air to Air Missiles ).
So just ordering 200 of these junks and putting 200 of your air force men lives in danger, go better beg Americans to give you FA18 hornets or F-16's
