You got that right Big_Z!

Did you know that at least 7 or 8 US SF guys died in Mindanao? their chopper crashed while on a mission to bring relief goods to civilians affected by a particularly strong thypoon in the south. Filipinos have long memories, and we don't easily forget things like these... American soldiers bringing aid to our brothers and sisters. in behalf of the 80 million Filipinos, THANK YOU.

Bases full, two out, the man from the Philippines comes to the plate, testing the wind, spits out his mascada, takes position, and swings! the ball is flying out of the field! GOOD GUYS WIN!

uhh.. while you're at it Big_Z, why not throw in 5 squadrons of F-16's, Arleigh Burke destroyers, attack subs, and ask Israel to donate 300 Merkava IV MBT's to the Armed Forces of the Philippines!

Peace!

I think the Filipino Military has some very strong elements. The Scout Rangers, Filipino Marines are tops, and the Filipino Naval Commandos are also very good.

That's good to hear from a retired Marine! the Naval Commandoes are locally known as SWAG or Special Warfare Group. were you stationed in subic? coz i gather from your profile that you underwent JEST training.

Some views on AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) having meet some of your Navy officers I do know that you have very high standard especially when it comes to the marines and your academy is very good.

In the summer of 2000 when I was there as a tourist about 60 % of AFP was envolved in battle daily agains Aby Saiaf and MILF I guess it's about the same now but you got some US help.

I only say good luck and keep up the good work even if your president didnt dare to stay in Iraq anymore.

The AFP has been getting much needed help from the US but the problem is much of that help ends up in the pockets of high ranking military officials, currently the AFP and the country is being rocked by a scandal involving the former Comptroller, who siphoned off millions of dollars for the daily operations of the AFP and "INVESTED" it in houses, apartment, cars, etc. in the US!

The Philippine military has a proud and reputation built on battle, but this scandal has brought to fore issues that had been raised by young officers during their aborted mutiny july of last year, it now looks as if those grievances they aired before is true.

There is much interest in the Philippines about your Gripen fighter, as you might probabaly know our skies are virtually undefended and we badly need 4th generation fighters to fill the gap.

Majority of the filipinos were dismayed by our president's decision to pull out our troops in Iraq, it sends the wrong signal to both the rest of the world and to the terrorist that the Philippines is an unreliable partner in the fight against terrorism and that we are susceptible for further attacks.

Firts about Gripen. Yes I've heard that too but do you really need that kind of airplane? Because you can't only bye some jets and think things are great. Gripen is a very advanced system and you need the combat and control systems too including radar. It will be very expensive. Thats just a thought.

I do hope that you really tells Pres Aroyo that it wasn't the right thing to do when you left Iraq. That only helped the terrorists. To bad.
