The blogs accused Reuters of distorting the photograph to include more smoke and damage.

The photograph showed two very heavy plumes of black smoke billowing from buildings in Beirut after an Air Force attack on the Lebanese capital. Reuters has since withdrawn the photograph from its website, along a message admitting that the image was distorted, and an apology to editors.

n the message, Reuters said that "photo editing software was improperly used on this image. A corrected version will immediately follow this advisory. We are sorry for any inconvience."

Well, you'd think after seeing a Palestinian "victim" fall off and remount a litter about four times, that some reporters would wise up.

Well I am not entirely sure trusting a news agency clearly associated with one of the combatants gives an unbiased view either so to "even" things up here is Reuters take on the problem.

The manipulated image is on the left.

Don't you think that media always reports truth?
Huh just joking.
Figment is easy.
Pick up a photograph from somewhere and write up a creative and touching article about it.
That is very reasonable to buy journalists.

Reuters is like the AP so they don't want anything to happen that could damage their wire service reputation. They're not a network and they get their money from subscribers who pay a lot of money for a lot of information of global events. The fact that they took it off so fast means that they were quick to react when bloggers pointed the pic out.

But lebanon is still burning nonetheless.
