Years ago, long before coming to the Today Show, Al Roker worked on WKYC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio. One day, one of the news anchors, a blonde man, was mugged on his way to work. Visibly shaken up, their exchange went something like this, all on air by the way:
Al Roker: Gee, Doug, you don't look too good. What happened?
Newscaster (trying to shake it off): Oh, it's nothing, ran into a bit of trouble on the way to work...
Roker: Really? Sorry to hear that...
Newscaster: Well, you know, it was one of your people who did it.
Roker: A weatherman?
