Found this on another website. This is Viet Nam War era, but very amusing.
"The Gunners Battle Hymn" (sung to the tune of "The Dogface Soldier")
is an affirmation of the unit's (161 FA) own special sense of its exclusive worth.
I wouldn't wanna be in tanks or infantry,
I'd rather be a gunner like I am;
I wouldn't change my jungle greens
For Ranger Squadron's cammed--up jeans
For I don't wanna jump out of no plane.
Chorus: And all the posters I read say that Arty is best,
Wearin' me down to put me over the test.
Well I load me a gun, and I come from One-Six-One
And I'm waitin' for whatever comes my way,
So keep up the ammunition,
Keep me on the gun position,
'Cause One-Six-One is okay.
