My friend has a shell from WWII circa 1941 and we're trying to figure out what type it is, and what it's for. It appears to be an artillery shell, (40mm) possibly from a howitzer or other light artillery.

From what we've researched, we believe the manufacturer is Dobson & Barlow, and we think It's a Dobson and Barlow No 14 (we don't know what the Mk is.)

On the actual projectile, it says

"PLUG IN NO.243 D&B 1941"

On the shell, it says:

"2 PRH V
IT/N
B S
B T HC
4/41

4 4 . 5"

Then the base plug says:
"PLUG FIRING No14TN PL 1941"
