Nigerian troops pushed back an attack by Boko Haram insurgents on the outskirts of Borno state capital Maiduguri in the early hours of Saturday, a Reuters reporter and military source said. The attack occurred barely a day after the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari, who swore to crush the Islamist militant group and move the command center of defense to the Borno state capital. A military source said the shooting took place around the Damboa road after the small settlement of Mule on the edge of the city of two million.
