The REAL Way to Get Jump Wings

UPON COMPLETING Army Airborne training at Fort Benning, Ga., I was granted leave and waited at the local airport for my flight. A teen-ager approached and told me that he was about to go into basic training. Eyeing my dress-green uniform and Airborne wings, he exclaimed, "Wow! You actually jumped out of an airplane?"

"No," I sheepishly admitted. "I was pushed five times."

Pshaw, my happy butt jumped all five times on my own. Of course, none were intentional jumps, I'd get so nervous and amped up that I'd just "walk" right out of the door and not realize it until I'm feeling that first opening shock. Thank God I didn't have a malfunction (I puked after I execuded a PLF only like a cherry on his first jump could!)
 
I'm still trying to figure out a way for my command to send me to jump school.

"No, really, sir...you never know when you might need to jump in a public health emergency management specialist..." :D

Well, sir, in the event that a man was without sterile alchohol in a remote location far enough inland to a continent to need a plane but isolated enough for a helicopter to put down into, i have concluded that I would need to jump...lol
 
I haven't jumped from a plane yet. But I hope I can just tell myself to just do it.
