Sci Fi is dead

This generation hasn't seen another Star Trek so it is obvious another Star Trek wouldn't work for this generation. Will Sci Fi/Space Opera go the way of the Western? Isn't there a way to make this genre more relevant and appealing to this generation?

I saw in the paper today, that William Shatner might be doing a new Star Trek flick. Director I think is JJ Abrams. Should be something about this somewhere else too.
