By Ori Lewis JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A Palestinian was shot dead after he tried to stab an Israeli security guard at a border crossing on Saturday, Israeli police said, as diplomatic efforts to try to end a surge in violence resumed in Jordan. The suspect approached the Jalameh crossing between the northern West Bank and Israel from the Palestinian side, an Israeli police spokeswoman said.
