HEINRICH HOFFMANN MUNICH LOCATIONS

Heinrich Hoffmann (1885-1957), despite attempting to distance himself from the Nazi legacy and its atrocities, was instrumental in crafting Hitler's public persona. He was infamously known as ‘Führerfotograf’ (Führer’s photographer), and you have probably seen at least some of his images. Like many of Hitler’s closest entourage, Hofmann’s life was closely connected to Munich, as he worked there as a photographer, lived with his family, and ran businesses. In this meticulously detailed article, I put together every piece of information I have found regarding Heinrich Hoffmann and Munich since 1909, including his houses and the addresses of his photo ateliers. At least a part of this article touched on the story of Eva Braun, her work at Hoffmann’s atelier, and her becoming Hitler’s mistress. As always, I used archival photos (50+) and my own photos from the locations.

I would greatly appreciate your activity, questions, and corrections on this material.
