How long was it under development? I think it's been around for quite a few years now. Not much known outside about its capability I think.

I'm a fan of this aircraft and think its the best aircraft China ever made so far. I only wish more information was known I just can't jump on the bandwagon and say its as good as a F-16C Block-50 or even a Block-15 for that matter without proof of some kind.

We are not quite sure about its function since there's no test close to real battel. Anyway, this might be a signal showing that China has capability to develop its own air force. This is much important than a fighter.
