Ok I have a bit of a problem. A family member of mine bought me boots (Danner marine temperate GTX). The problem is th boots are the wrong size and returning them is not an option. When I take a step the ball of my foot lifts off of the floor of the boot a half inch or more!! I need to find a way to fix this and my thought is to put insoles into the boot to fill up a bit of space so my feet dont lift up while walking/running. Any suggestions for other possible solutions and/or recommendations for insoles? Thanks in advance

That sounds odd, where the boots purchased online? To not get any problems with your feet you need to get the right size. When you are wearing a backpack and you have bad boots, you will pay for it. It sounds like the boots are very much too big for you, but you can also test different pair of socks to compensate for the big boots.
Contact US Cavalry about the right insoles.

Two sizes too big?! That's a lot. I don't think these boots will do you any good. If I were you I would sell them and buy me new boots.

But it is much better to buy boots the traditional way, go to a store and test the boots and then decide which one you want
In heavy marching/hiking your feet may actually expand/swell quite a bit, so if the boots are for that they may be ok...
I usually use boots that are 2 sizes bigger then my normal boots on long marches, and I start with extra thick socks to compensate for the size until the feet are warmed up and swollen enough to fit. :smil:
Good insoles may also help you, and it's always a good idea to use good shock absorbing insoles if you're planning to use the boots for hiking.

So much bigger? I've never used boots that bigger, not even when I went to Nijmegen. I have get me boots big enough so I can move my toes a little. What kind of boots is the Norwegian army issued with?
For normal field use I have 1 size extra, and in Nijmegen (and similar marches) I used 2 sizes over.
With two socks, one thin and one thick wool sock to reduce the friction on the feet. :smil:

I also use two pair of socks to reduce the friction. I must have strange feet, they do not swell much even when it's hot.
The boots look nice, are you using the same boots during the winter months? The Swedish military is issued two pair of boots, summer and winter boots (there are other boots as well, mainly for warmer climates)

They are brilliant... Keeps you very warm and dry without any problems down to -30C or below..
And since you use your own regular boots inside you don't have to adapt to new boots during the winter, and it's also possible to use just those with thick socks inside (not on skis....) if you need to dry your boots in the tent etc...
And you can also use them while skiing on military skis.

Petroleum jelly...if you're gonna do a long march and you are worried about sliding until your feet swell then put petroleum jelly on your feet with panty hose over them. Then wear a regular wool boot sock over that and your feet will be blister free...if a bit soggy. NOTE: don't do this if you are doing field work! It is only to be used for suck marches...(plus if you keep the petroleum jelly with you then it is also useful for the inside of thighs, nether regions, and the buttocks as well)...trust me, dried sweat, raw flesh, and nether regions are all recipes for terrible discomfort!
I bought insoles for my boots and I've gotta say they feel amazing. They are now snug on my feet the way they were supposed to be from the beginning although not too snug. No sliding around in them and no extra room. Theres also significantly less toe room. brinktk I think I'll be adding a jar of petroleum jelly to my ruck
