"Coming Home"

A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home
after having fought in Vietnam. He called his parents from San
Francisco."Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've a favor
to ask. I have a friend I'd like to bring home with me."
"Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him."

"There's something you should know the son continued,
"he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a
land mind and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere else
to go, and I want him to come live with us."

"I'm sorry to hear that, son. Maybe we can help him find
somewhere to live." "No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live
with us." "Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're
asking. Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible
burden on us. We have our own lives to live, and we
can't let something like this interfere with our lives.
I think you should just come home and forget about
this guy. He'll find a way to live on his own."

At that point, the son hung up the phone.
The parents heard nothing more from him. A few days later,
however, they received a call from the San Francisco police.
Their son had died after falling from a building, they were
told. The police believed it was suicide. The grief-stricken
parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the city
morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized
him, but to their horror they also discovered something they
didn't know, their son had only one arm and one leg.

The Final Inspection

The Marine stood and faced his God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, you Devil-Dog,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my Church have you been true?"
The Marine squared his shoulders and said,
"No Lord, I guess I ain't "
"Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays
And at times my talk was rough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

And I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here,
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't , I'll understand."

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Marine waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, you Marine,
You've borne your burdens well,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in HELL."

one of my own

Call of Duty
To ALL Marines PAST, PRESENT, And FUTURE

Many ask why I am so willing
But many more wonder
They shall never know the truth of why
They shall only know that I was brave,
That I was willing
And answered that call

Many before have done the same
And many more to come
They new the risks
But they still did their duty

When it’s my turn
I will proudly take up arms
Never thinking once
About the dangers that await me
It will be my duty to guard this nation
It is protected by those
Who have come before me
And joined the Corps

Not just any Corps
The United States Marine Corps
And my time shall come
To step up and claim that title
Of United States Marine

Freedom's Price

This aint as good as the ones above, aint as long, and it aint about the Corps either... but I hope ya'll like it any way.

Freedom’s Price

Here lies freedom’s price.
These brave souls
Made the sacrifice.

Over the arid desert sands,
Across the mountain range
They fight and die in foreign lands.

Tracers light the evening sky.
Mortars fall
And deadly rockets fly.

They guard the fence.
They stand the line.
They are the best defense.

Lonely guilt and blame
And a flag draped casket
Are all some may claim.

Yet still they stand
Still they guard
In the dust and cold and sand.

We stand ready.
We stand proud.

i just thought i would share this

THE SOLDER

When I here people say that we don’t need the military or that war is not the answer to our problems and that we can talk things though and we don’t think we need to fight I ask them
"did bin laden say "Hey I hate you and I think that the US is Satan so lets talk" NO he did not"

And they just stand there and look at me and say that I am racist and that all I want to do is kill any one that is different and I just sat to them no I am not racist and if I wanted to kill any one that is different then I would kill every one because we are all different then I also say Who do you think gave all the rights that you take for granted every day it was THE SOLDER who fought the Indians and the British for land and independence and the Spanish and French for land and it was THE SOLDER who fought to keep this country one and to free the blacks from slavery and it was THE SOLDER who fought back the Germans in WW1 and kept this country safe from harm and it was THE SOLDER who fought the Japanese and the Germans in WW2 to get retribution for those who were killed at pearl harbor and to keep this country safe and it was THE SOLDER who fought in Korea for a cause that he did not understand but he went to serve his country and it was THE SOLDER who fought in Vietnam for an oppressed people {and they still haven’t gotten the thanks they need} and it was THE SOLDER who went to IRAQ to protect a small country and to protect his country and the people in it and it is THE SOLDER who is once again in IRAQ and also in AFGHANISTAN to protect us all from fear and to get back at those who attacked the UNITED STATES on SEPTEMBER 11 2001! And it will be THE SOLDER who will protect us from now on!:tank: :m16: :2guns: :m1:
