142th Fighter Wing (24-hour Alert)

With more than 1,000 officers and airmen, the 142 Fighter Wing guards the Pacific Northwest skies from northern California to the Canadian border, on 24-hour alert as part of the North American Air Defense system.

Note the live weapons on the trolley.
The 142FW maintains an alert mission at the Portland International Airport.

One of a couple family models on the ramp.
This jet came from the 102FW after they lost their flying mission.
The other two-seater is an F-15B.

Mt. Hood made for an excellent backdrop.

They had just pulled this jet from the alert hangars to swap it for another.
It is still carrying its missile load in this photo, which was removed and put on another Eagle an hour or so later.

Each carries nose art that will be carried over onto the F-15Cs in the near future.
