NEWLY TRANSFERRED into the personnel office, the Marine corporal was struggling with an impossibly high stack of forms. Every so often, he would look up apprehensively, first at the slowly dwindling pile of work, and then at the lieutenant in charge. "Ma'am," the corporal asked her anxiously, "when does this job have to be done?"

"Tomorrow," came the crisp reply.

"Tomorrow?" squeaked the panic-stricken man. "Ma'am, you mean this coming tomorrow?"
