Wake Island Status/Trip to australia

Does anyone know the current status of Wake Island in the Pacific? More specifically, the airstrip? I'm doing research for pilot ground school on a flight to Australia from Alaska in a single engine Cessna. Is the Island's airstrip open for personal pilots to land and refuel, or if it strictly commercial and military.

So far, I've planned the trip thusly:

Anchorage, AK -> Juneau, AK
Juneau -> Seattle, WA
Seattle -> Goldendale, WA
Goldendale -> Redmond, OR
Redmond -> Lakeview, OR
Lakeview -> Eureka, CA
Eureka -> Chico, CA
Chico -> Sacramento, CA
Sac City -> Bakersfield, CA
Bakersfield -> San Diego, CA
San Diego -> Somewhere in Hawaii

Every stop there is for fuel, rest, and food. I doubt I'll do this, it's just for a class, to see if it'd be possible to fly to Australia in a bush plane.

In anyone can help with the rest of the stops for fuel and such, I'd appreciate it.

Please don't send me any links unless it leads to something that says "Wake Island is closed to civilian travelers" or something along those lines, nothing like "unincorporated territory of the US; administered by the US Army and Strategic Defense Command since 1 October 1994," as that really doesn't help me, but if that's what I'm looking for and I just don't see it, please clarify it for me.
