Topic: Visit "The Bridge at Remagen" in Czechoslovakia


I had heard this story about the production of the movie many years ago but when I ran across this article it provided some new facts and I thought the members might enjoy it.

Hehe I was in the area a few years ago and someone mentioned that the bridge had been used in the movie, it looked a lot bigger in the movie though.

Ah, the illusions of film. It's not the first time, nor the last, that the film makers have entertained us with camera angles and wide-angle lenses.

In some cases, but not all. I was amazed at how small "The Crater" at Petersburg actually was. It has filled in over the years, but the markers say the width hasn't shrunk much.

As you can see the real bridge was somewhat larger than the Czech one.
