ISTANBUL (Reuters) — Turkish soldiers have killed 10 members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party in an operation this week near the border with Iraq, the military said Thursday.
The statement said that soldiers had confiscated hand grenades, explosives and food from the rebels in the border province of Sirnak.
Turkey’s military is fresh from an eight-day offensive in northern Iraq, aimed at cracking down on rebels using Iraq as a base. It has said it killed 240 rebels and lost 27 of its own men during the operation.
