BAGHDAD, Iraq_A soldier was killed in combat in Anbar province, the
insurgent stronghold west of the capital, the U.S. military reported
Thursday.
It was the 71st death of an American servicemember in October, putting it on
course to be the bloodiest month for U.S. forces in nearly two years. The
soldier of the 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division died Wednesday, the
military said.
