Snobbery and class distinction

There was a function due to be held on the station for all ranks in one of the Squadron hangers. Notices was put up around the station which read:-

Officers and their ladies,
Senior NCO's and their wives
Airmen and their women

are cordially invited to attend the function.........................

Now this put quite a few airmen's backs up, snobbery and class distinction between ranks. Someone went around changing the wording on the notices to:-

Officers and their old wrinkled slappers
Senior NCO's and their scrubbers
Airmen and their princess's


The point was taken and new notices were put up

All ranks and their wives or girlfriends are cordially invited.............
