Does anyone really like music with sad lyrics here?

I was thinking and I realized that I listen to some pretty depressing stuff, here's a couple of samples..

"Hey Mr. Destiny…you forgot about me
You forgot to leave a number
You forgot to name the street
This is American living with my American dream
It thunders like a river but its cold just like a stream
And this is so typical…
Erased by the author of me…."

"I lost all faith today in suicidal featherweights
With broken wrists and weaker fists
This is the last fight I’ll give away...
And there’s something terrible locked in her attic
…So I’m told…
I can feel it on my face
I still feel you everywhere"

"Back in school they never taught us what we needed to know,
like how to deal with despair, or someone breaking your heart.
For twelve years I've held it all together but a night like this is begging to pull me apart.
I played it quiet, left you deep in conversation.
I felt uncool and hung out around the kitchen.
I remember I kept thinking that I know you never would,
and now I know I want to kill you like only a best friend could."

Any thoughts or anyone else like this type of stuff too?

Once in a while I find really depressing music fits a mood; besides, art need pain. Like really; the best music is generally pretty depressing in nature.

"You'll Think of Me" by Keith Urban is one of the most depressing songs I've heard in a long time - it suits messy breakups well.

I am kind of partial to sad music though, depends on what is happening at the time.

If anyone is into Country Music, "He stopped loving her today" by George Jones. Even Jones, after recording it said " nobody will buy this morbid son-of-a-b***h". I think it was one of his best sellers.

He Stopped Loving Her Today
George Jones
_______

He said "I'll love you till I die",
she told him "You'll forget in time"
As the years went slowly by,
she still preyed upon his mind

He kept her picture on his wall,
went half-crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all,
hoping she'd come back again

Kept some letters by his bed
dated nineteen sixty-two
He had underlined in red
every single "I love you"

I went to see him just today,
oh but I didn't see no tears
All dressed up to go away, first time
I'd seen him smile in years

He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

(Spoken)
You know,
she came to see him one last time.
Aww, 'n' we all wondered if she would.
And it kept runnin' through my mind
"this time he's over her for good."

He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

I was only Nineteen by Redgum. Heard the first time at the age of 10, since then I've had a keen intreset in the Aussie Viet Vets, Seeing 3 where uncles of mine.

Mum and Dad and Denny saw the passing out parade at Puckapunyal
It was a long march from cadets
Sixth Battalion was the next to tour and it was me who drew the card
We did Canungra and Shoalwater before we left

And Townsville lined the footpaths as we marched down to the quay
This clipping from the paper shows us young and strong and clean
And there's me in me slouch hat with me SLR and greens
God help me, I was only nineteen

From Vung Tau riding Chinooks to the dust at Nui Dat
I'd been in and out of choppers now for months
And we made our tents a home, VB and pinups on the lockers
And an agent orange sunset through the scrub

And can you tell me doctor why I still can't get to sleep?
And night time's just a jungle dark and a barking M16?
And what's this rash that comes and goes, can you tell me what it means?
God help me, I was only nineteen

A four week operation when each step could mean your last one on two legs
It was a war within yourself
But you wouldn't let your mates down 'til they had you dusted off
So you closed your eyes and thought about something else

And then someone yelled out "Contact!" and the bloke behind me swore
We hooked in there for hours then a God almighty roar
Frankie kicked a mine the day that mankind kicked the moon
God help me, he was going home in June

I can still see Frankie drinking tinnies in the Grand Hotel
On a thirty-six hour rec leave in Vung Tau
And I can still see Frankie lying screaming in the jungle
'Till the morphine came and killed the bloody row

And the Anzac legends didn't mention mud and blood and tears
And the stories that my father told me never seemed quite real
I caught some pieces in my back that I didn't even feel
God help me, I was only nineteen

And can you tell me doctor why I still can't get to sleep?
And why the Channel Seven chopper chills me to my feet?
And what's this rash that comes and goes,
Can you tell me what it means?

God help me, I was only nineteen

Then there's the Hallmark of sad music, "Dear John". I also get shivers when I hear "Danny Boy".

"Hurt" by Johnny Cash.

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hold
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

[Chorus:]
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

[Chorus:]
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way
