Russia admits Finnish airspace violation

20.9.2007 at 14:54
Russia has admitted that one of its Ilyushin Il-76 airlifters violated Finnish airspace off Porvoo last week, the Finnish government said in a statement Thursday.
According to a Russian inquiry, the breach was unintentional and attributable to insufficient communications between the crew of the aircraft and ground control stations.
The statement added that Alexander Rumyantsev, the Russian ambassador to Finland, had told the Finnish government that Russia regretted the incident and proposed that specialist discussions be held so that similar situations could be avoided in future.
Ilkka Kanerva (cons), the Finnish foreign minister, said in the statement that he was satisfied with the explanation and considered the idea of specialist discussions well founded.

Who do the Chinese overfly and with what?

Mostly it's with submarines or with fishing trawlers.
Chinese submarines violated Japanese waters before and their fishing trawlers enter North Korean waters and sometimes stray into South Korean waters as well. And believe me, not all those trawlers are strictly for fishing.
