This book was all about an officer's accountability in the US military. It was the story of the Submarine the USS Greenville striking and sinking the Japanese fishing boat. Comdr. Waddle tells the story from his point of view as the sub commander on that morning, and of the court-martial and publicity that followed. It tells how even though that accident was caused by many factors that as the officer of the boat the responiblity fell on his shoulders even if it wasn't completely his fault. He tells about how his Chirstan faith led him to do what he believed to be the right thing and take the responiblity for no other reason than that it was the right thing to do. It's an eye opening and truthful account of what happened aboard the USS Greenville that day, and of a great man who became even greater in the midst of tradgey. A very worthwhile read for everyone.
