AS A NAVY DENTIST, I was conducting exams at Naval Dental Center, Camp Lejeune, N.C. A young Marine from the Second Reconnaissance Battalion mentioned that he was temporarily assigned to barracks clean-up duty. Noting his qualifications badges for scuba and parachuting as well as expert pistol and rifle awards, I remarked, "Isn't the Reconnaissance Battalion's motto 'Swift, Silent and Deadly'?"
"Yes, sir," he said. "But over at the barracks, the guys now refer to it as 'Sweep, Swab and Dust'."
