Just a bit about the whole baring arms. Yes the US have successfully installed (is that the right word?) it into every day life which is great.
Being from the UK I know the reason we couldnt do it is because we have so many fools in our country who have this "wow how cool Ive got a gun" frame of mind to things.
Where as in the US it seems that its not such a novelty to own a gun, how the US intorduced this system I dont know and I'm interested in looking into. I think it has probably made the US a safer place and other countries should follow their example.
Its a big deal in the UK when someone defends their home and DONT get punished for it! As its more common that if you attack a burgular that the burgular will get compensation for your actions! (man I wish I was american)

I agree with Doc.S on alot of what he said. If the ultra-liberals had their way in American our whole system would be one big buerocracy, one big mess were people just simply get lost in the works of a never ending cold machine.
They forget what makes a society hard-working and strong, stuff like personal intiative, self-reliance, motivation and many more stuff like that.

Well thank you Italian guy ! My wife wants me to become an author but I just cant find the right peace of mind that I would need for such a nobel work. And I dont know what I should write about. Well I would probably never get published anyway in sweden because I am just hanging over here. :lol: gladious is very right when he talks about that the left-wing has an absolute stranglehold on the press. But that is not all - the whole system that controls this part of Europe is under total control of the left wing. You got the unions that are supposed to protect their workers and members, the left wing is also controling almost every county outside the big citys. In the tracks of the left wing and the socialists that sits on almost 90% of every chair of power in this country including my own county. My county is runned by the left wing exclusived since 20 years back or so, there is little chance that anyone will rise up and speak on the behalf of us the expendible shirts.
Everyone that has a job holds on to it with everything they got, and the unions are ofcourse backing them up. On all positions in our countys you find relatives, son`s daughters and friends on every place runned by this socialists. They choose their own families/relatives as a prio one, second comes their friends, and third people with connections and last this spare shirts who is everybody else in this country. I would say that sweden is not only corupted it is also not entirly a democrasy and a wide spread tall poppies syndrome is indeed visible for everyone that takes a closer look, or just want to look into this mess. Problem is that everyone that has work are afraid to loose it and the media, labour unions and the established parties are just turning the thumb up or down to every form of opposition.
There are no opposition partys allowed even if there are some, but they are more like the extrem ones (extrem right/leftwing) who will not help anyone else then their own wicked minds perhaps. This is as gladious says a population of 9 million people all with with tunnel vision and effectivly controlled by a overwhelming buerocracy all runned by the socialist party - the left wing party - the green party and all the different labour unions of sweden. These are dark times indeed for everyone over here that hangs on these shirt hangers, but the truth is... Things are going to become brighter, we are growing with maximum warp-speed and soon the big one will hit the deck and then Captain Spock will fire the cannons. We are growing approximatly with 200-400 people every other month by now. The latest was 1100 officers that will loose their jobs. I can see a great Resistance movement growing up from this.
The reason why we dont have weapons as the US in any socialist controlled region of Europe is because if we would have that, this mess would never have accured in the first place. I think it was Benjamin Franklin that said They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. I think this is what is going to happen over here, with or without guns. I dont think the German people is far behind eather because Europe is truly sinking

I'm afraid that Europe is only seeing America and reacting to their hatred towards it, and not focusing on the game plan at hand.
In many ways it seems like because America is the country of modern capitalism, they want to go the other way and go the opposite route of Socialism. Hoping for a more Soviet like social system, minus the gulag.
It's a crying shame when people who are supposedly well educated have the hindsight which is far lacking compared to Winston Churchill's foresight.
I guess time will tell where all this will go, but I distinctly remember that history has a tendency to repeat itself.

Before "thinking" about going to US of A, you gotta to inform how bad it is when a man/woman is fired from the company, they will get NOTHING, no medical care, no money, nothing.
Well I believe for most ppl countries like Sweden is like heaven, you do NOT need to care about NO money, you will always be ensured you will get a house to live in and food on table and pocket money too.
Anyway I like USA as a country, but I would absolutely not go there to live and work, especially when you got a family to feed.

I would not have to report in to the employment service every time me and my wife wants to visit a friend in another county for one weekend. Yes, I do have to inform them if I leave my house for more than one day.
I say like this - where are the libertys? I very well know the unsecure infrastructure for people living in the US. But I promiss you FlyingFrog that if they would have to choose between what they got today and what I am living with today I say they would rather die then let the gov treat them as they are treating us over here. US is also as big as the whole Europe all together and if there is no work in one state in US, You are free to move to the next one. There you are not bound to any tunnel vision and tons of buerocracy with big brother looking over your shoulder every step you take. I got alot of relatives that has succeded in the US and they sometimes comes over here and look at sweden.
They just shake their heads and dont understand how so much people can live with this over taxations? Key is that I have never had any pocket money, and I would pay for my own ensurance if I got all the way to america, If I loose the first job I move and get a new job thats how simple it is really if you compare to Sweden. Over there I dont have to pay for basicly anything else then for myselfe and my family. And believe me I hate handouts and gifts because I am a worker in both heart and mind. If I stay in sweden I will not have any pension or security anyway in the future.
I am only realistic over here. Things are not as peachy and green as it looks from the outside. Well If you ask them that actually have a job they will nod and clap there hands and even stand on one foot for hours just proving for you that it is actually good. So yes I have thought this over many times and I believe more in the US system than in the swedish system. I sincerly believe in the american dream. Cause I have seen so many succed not only from my own relatives that are spread all over the US but also others. From Chisholm, Hibin Minnesota down to Texas from Texas to L.A I got relatives and they all say- If I was you, I would get my behind to the states! Well I believe in those fokes - they are all hard working and good people. Another thing is that Americans are a very nice people.
They are so nice that I would say that they are as nice as people come. Well English people are also very nice togheter with Italians and Chinese people, there is alot of very cherfull humans out there in the world but nowhere else you find as many nice people of so many coultures as you find in the United States Of America. I just love them! :lol:

Actually as a foreigner you might have a better chance at getting work than someone who has lived here all their life. Seems like there are a few government programs that will put immigrant workers into positions before Americans (it's a bit of an exaggeration, but that's how it's viewed).
Doc, you really make the US sound like an amazing place. It's great that people still view this country as the land of opportunity. But I'd like to warn you, it could be "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence." It's true you could just leave a job one place and move to another state for work. But now everyone is having trouble finding jobs. I think that really depends on the state though. Here in Maryland, there seems to be a lot to go around. Hopefully Bush will get the economy together and turn things around for the good of the nation, and the world market.
I'm not saying this place isn't as great as you say. I completely believe that anyone can achieve anything they wish here, as long as they are willing to work hard and reach that goal. It sure sounds like it'll be a lot easier here than it would be in Sweden.

Yeah I also believe USA and also Canada are wonderful places, I have been to both those countries, they just look so clean so nice people so big with alot of mountains
I can also understand your complaints about Sweden, but tell you what, if you are smoker then you'd better not go to US/A, when I came back from US and landed here I said to God: Oh my Lord, thank you so much I am free in Amsterdam again, the Free Land for smokers.

1. Since you have been in living in a kind of "honey country", hence you are used to everything automatically supplied to you, you don't feel the "sweetness" of "honey" more. This is just my guess.
2. While, USA does have a lot of chances, maybe have a try there is also a good idea. We Chinese always say: if a tree moves, the tree will die, but if a man moves, he will live. Yeah we cannot live in a place like a "dead water", we gotta to make some movement.
Well, you got relatives there, it will be much easier.
I believe you will turn back to the "normal" and happy life (I mean no complain life) again, in Sweden or in USA, so always cheer up, I believe in you my pal

Thank god that I can say that all this frustration hasn`t been builtd up over one day or so - it has been 7 long years (education, competence development, study courses, substitute work when needed) before I realised what has to be done, there is also alot of pride that goes down the toilet when you have to live like this, and I guess I will never learn to handle those feelings as long as I cant provide my own family with more than stuff that just satisfies human basic needs - there are alot of honey loving people over here in sweden.
When I move to the states with my family I will need a work, roof over our heads that I can pay for, food, and a TV-set where we can watch the news, learn american fotball or baseball or basketball. A car would be nice too - And maby some time outside with the outdoor grill and the dog, that would give me a clear consious if I leave my home for holidays,knowing than Im really doing something for a living and deserves some free-time and not being demanded to report in to some form of probation officer like Iam a criminal or something, just because they have choosen to hang me up like a shirt.
If I would not report in over here in Swe I would only be another homeless Sweed. There are alot of them over here that eventually gave up all hope. So its kind of a vicous circle of good british people being stolen from because the theives win either way (either they get away with my t.v or they get thousands of pounds compensation!)

you know, we could ban hand guns and do all of that stuff, but that doesn't prevent murders from occuring. the list provides deaths related to guns but there are other problems, why don't you look at murder rates, or domestic violence. also, it'd be interesting to see how many of those weapons used were legally registered in the US.
a friend of mine lives in japan and he was telling me how a student at a high school brutally murdered fellow students with a sword and cut their heads off. i realize it's one incident, but i'd rather be shot than cut up with a sword.
