One aircraft that's never been lost in air combat*

It doesn't have the best record as it is a multi-role fighter and master of none, but it's cheaper than most, and reputedly easy to fly. If I could take a ride in any jet, it'd either be this or one of those Su-37 Terminators, basically Flankers with thrust vectoring.

I'm sure there are some technically amazing planes out there that could wipe the floor with it, but the Viper made an impression on me when I saw one real close as a little kid before they were as security conscious.

Disclaimer: I only really know about firearms, so this choice is based on appearance and reputation.
 
Oh, the Viper is still a formidable, best-selling multirole fighter. It's definitely not going out of fashion anytime soon! A lot of nations' air defense depend on it, including my beloved Turkey. :)

A lot better than Mirage, Eurofighter and Gripen IMO.
